The scion and last hope of an Ishgardian noble house that fell into disgrace after his uncle deserted in battle against the Dravanians, Dieudonne was given a strong military upbringing with the intent of molding him into the warrior who would redeem the family name. As a part of his training, he was sent to Camp Dragonhead, where he served under Lord Haurchefant and spent a great deal of time practicing his technique against mercenaries from other lands. Sparring exercises led to friendships, which in time led to a fascination with the world outside Ishgard. When, in the wake of the Dragonsong War, Aymeric began to repair the city-state's relationships with the rest of Eorzea, Dieudonne begged leave to quit his post at Camp Dragonhead and venture into the wider world as an “Emissary of Ishgard.” Bemused, and in a position to grant such requests, Aymeric approved his request. His exact words were "Why not?"—though Dieudonne himself would spin it as “the personal blessing of the Knight-Commander!” Either way, he has taken to traveling Eorzea beyond the bounds of his home, seeking every opportunity to do good in Ishgard's name.
